The Wickerbeast was brought to life through the creative vision of '''Daemon_Lady''' (real name Simone White) with an initial concept sketch in '''2013'''. In late 2014, two additional Wickerbeast designs were developed, establishing the species' visual foundation.

The first official community space — a Facebook group — was established in '''early 2014''', with an inaugural administration team comprising: '''Guts''', '''Rune''' (later known as PineWarden), '''Hamada''', '''Mavi''', and '''Tombo''' (Wolpertingerwhite). Head moderators are historically called '''Alphas''' and regular moderators '''Betas''' — a naming convention dating from 2013 that the community has retained affectionately.

The species grew organically throughout the 2010s across FurAffinity, Tumblr, and Discord, accumulating lore, design rules, and a dedicated community.
